MINORITY REPORT Part I: The Intro
Goodphella March 26, 2003
The status of the American Black Male and Female. Are we in a better socio-economic situation today than we were, say,
20 years ago? Absolutely. Have we reached a full state of equality? Absolutely not.
Sure,
we enjoy many rights and freedoms in America, but there always seems to be some type of an underlying theme when
dealing with many Caucasian Americans and certain other nationalities. Throughout this series, I will attempt to unearth an explanation and,
most importantly,
a solution to the foul rapport that plagues many relationships between differing races. Understand, I am not the type of person
to cast blame on another person or ethnic group for my shortcomings....(the man is holding me down). As a man, I have learned
the importance of taking responsibility for my own actions. I believe each individual to be responsible for his or her outcome
in life and those outcomes are based on the decisions that each of us have made over the course of our lives.
Of course,
there are 'bad seeds' in every crop so the finger will not be pointed at any entire race or ethnicity. Our focus will be on the bad seed and what can be done to rectify these horrible matters.
It is my
belief that each individual has the power within to focus on peace and goodwill. The focal point of this publication is to cause more individuals to exercise that power.
It has been
my experience
that a large degree of the thoughts that inhabit a person's mind are directly related to that person's daily trials and tribulations, and also to the individual's surroundings and living conditions. The first thing that we see in the morning can
usually influence the way the day may go.

Minority Report II: How Childhood Affects the Adult
There are several factors to consider when examining a person's frame of mind, one being the person's surroundings. The environment
in which an
individual lives is an important aspect of a person's psychological makeup. The environment that a child grows up in is equally
as important.
If a child saw fighting and violence in the home, that child will be inclined to have constant 'beef' as a way of life. Or, if that same child experienced love and caring in the household, that child would be inclined to have more loving relationships with others (and probably more children). ……….just a joke…………... The point is this: it is up to the child to decide what kind of attitude and emotion to reflect upon society.
The saying goes: "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink." In other words, a parent can show a child which way to go,
but it is up to the child to go that way.
Many of us feel that we
are maneuvering through life with a disadvantage: our skin color. Some things that we have experienced as children on the road
to adulthood
have reinforced that feeling. Others have not. The key is to focus on the positive
events which will attract more positive events into your
daily experience. Your daily flow……. In addition, consider other
points of view to understand how to interact with others.
Picture this: A speeding car swerves across a busy intersection and crashes into a tree and it is seen by four different individuals. Well, it has been said that four people can witness the same event and have four different stories describing the event. The moral? Each individual has a story to tell. A story that is different from any other story.
To understand how a person reacts to the events of life, you must consider the events of that person's past. We all have seen and felt
things that have shaped the way that we view life. Believe it or not, we all navigate life based on our individual and unique
history (what we have been through up to this point). What matters most is the manner in which we react to each new event.
